Grapevine, Texas, is just north of the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport; a gem in an otherwise rush-rush world. Along Main Street, charming shops and family-owned restaurants welcome visitors like family. Christmas carols are dancing on a winter breeze and old-fashioned decorations are stretched over the street.
At one end of the street is Grapevine Vintage Railroad that is transformed during the holidays into the North Pole Express. On the journey Mrs. Claus talks to each child and presents them with a silver bell to ring for Santa Clause just before arriving at the North Pole where it’s snowing!
Near the train depot is Vetro Glassblowing Studio & Gallery where visitors can create their very own ornament with the help of glass artisans.
Grapevine is also home to several resorts including Gaylord Texan Hotel & Conference Center with its own set of holiday happenings. The massive atrium is filled with two million twinkling lights, decorations including 15,000 ornaments, and hundreds of poinsettias. At its center is a 54-foot tall Christmas tree.
The highlight of any visit is ICE! carved from more than two million pounds of ice. This year’s theme is Christmas Around the World. Guests weave their way past ice sculptures in 9 degree temperatures; displays that delight and bring the kid out in every visitor.
Other popular activities include Cookies and Milk with Mrs. Claus, snow tubing, The Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt, Gingerbread Decorating and Rudolph’s Holly Jolly Breakfast.
Grapevine offers more than 1,400 Christmas events during the holiday season and is the perfect holiday getaway for anyone who cherishes this time of year!
